PRP For Hair Regrowth

PRP therapy for hair restoration is considered a safe, new, natural treatment for hair loss. Clinical studies are showing is to be an extremely fast and effective treatment for hormonal hair loss ( androgenic alopecia) in both men and women. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma and it is used in many areas of medicine, including orthopedics to heal tendon injuries and treat osteoarthritis as well as in dentistry, wound healing and cardiovascular medicine. The treatment for hair regrowth relies on the common growth factors found within platelets. These growth factors can stimulate the cells in the hair follicle. Please know that PRP does not work for all types of hair loss. It is important to be thoroughly evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist to get the correct diagnosis.   The process of using PRP for hair growth involves injecting the scalp with vital growth proteins or platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Patients

Fillers

Fillers are injections used to fill wrinkles and creases in the skin. These injections can be used to obtain a fuller lip, remove lines around the lips (smokers lines), give cheek bone definition, fill in the trough under the eye as well as soften marionette lines.  There are many different fillers and experience does matter. A board certified dermatologist is best trained to assess the overall health of your skin and determine the most effective filler to achieve your goals. The correct amount of filler placed in the correct location using the correct technique will enhance the facial features. Maintaining the natural shape of your facial bone structure and knowing where there is loss of fat with aging is essential. Often, patients tell us that they do not want their face to be puffy and distorted by too much filler.  We agree with them. The “overfilled syndrome” becomes a real

Kybella

The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, and reduces submental fat or the “double chin”. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile. Each Kybella treatment session is given one month apart. Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient , however 2-6 treatment is the usual. Dr. Woods will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a revolutionary technology for skin tightening. Ultherapy is the only device to use focused ultrasound enery to penetrate the target tissue deeper and with more precision that previous technologies. This incredible technology brings us one step closer to the nonsurgical face lift. Ultherapy is the only FDA cleared noninvasive procedure that lifts and tightens the neck, chin and brow as well as improves lines and wrinkles on the chest. Just one non invasive Ultherapy treatment helps counteract the effects of gravity and sun exposure on the skin with no downtime. The perfect candidate for Ultherapy is someone with mild to moderate facial neck or chest skin laxity or sagging who want an uplift rather than a surgical facelift. This is an excellent procedure for preventative aging because it uses heat to stimulate collagen renewal deep under the skin. After a treatment, the skin will gradually shift into a

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an extremely  effective treatment used to treat sun damaged skin in our patients. This treatment involves applying a photosensitizing medication to the skin and then using a light source to activate it.  We have perfected the procedure and prefer to perform it with a laser. Our protocol involves applying one of the FDA approved photosensitizers (Levulan or methyl aminolevulinate) to the to the entire face or affected areas for 1-3 hours. Then, the Candela laser beam is precisely pulsed onto on the areas where the medication was applied. The laser allows Dr. Woods to tailor the treatment more precisely. After the laser procedure, the medicine is washed off the face and patients may return home. It is important to avoid the sun for 48-72 hours after the procedure. Patients will experience redness for 1-3 days after the procedure and then the areas will peel for a

Candela V Beam

The Candela Vbeam® Laser is a pulsed dye laser, which delivers an intense burst of yellow light to the skin (wavelength 595 nm). This wavelength of light is absorbed by hemoglobin, which is in red blood cells. Because blood vessels are filled with red blood cells, laser light can be specifically absorbed in these areas, to diminish or fade the vessels, with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. The blood vessels are coagulated and reabsorbed by the body. The Vbeam® Laser has a unique cooling device, which sprays a cooling mist onto the skin with each laser pulse, protecting the epidermis (the top layer of the skin), and increasing comfort. In addition to hemoglobin, melanin, the pigment in the skin, absorbs the 595 nm wavelength of light. If lasering a pigmented brown spot on the skin is desired, a special hand piece is used. This hand piece compresses the blood away

Botox

Botox is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic treatments. It has a very high satisfaction rating among patients for its ability to smooth fine lines, wrinkles and creases. Botox, Dysport and Xenomin are all neuromodulators that contain botulinum toxin type A, which is a purified neurotoxic protein taken from Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Botox relax wrinkles by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contraction. When the muscle contraction is reduced the facial movements responsible for unwanted lines is inhibited. Botox is used for facial rejuvenation by reducing wrinkles between the eyebrows, crows feet and forehead. While Botox is most known to its facial rejuvenation capabilities, it is used for medical purposes such as the treatment of migraines, strabismus, hyperhidrosis and muscle spasms. Although Botox is the most recognizable neuromodulator, Dysport and Xenomin are also effective and have distinct advantages. Healthy adults over the age of 18 are good candidates
