Eyebrows are Important

Eyebrow trends come and go through the years from a pencil thin in the 1960s to a heavy, bushy style made famous by with Brook Shields in the 1980s.

The brow is currently getting a lot of attention in the beauty world with the trend of micro blading. This is a tattoo technique that fills brows out or reshapes them by drawing tiny lines that look like individual hairs.

While eyebrow styles may change, the ideal measurements of the female eyebrow show a raised lateral arch. This ideal has been realized for more women using Botox injections. However, Botox injections are only temporary, lasting only 3-4 months, and must be maintained.

For most people, with age and sun exposure, we can expect the lateral brow to fall due to the loss of collagen and elastic tissue. A common complaint many doctors hear from patients is that their droopy brows make them look tired.

There are antiaging advantages to keeping the height of the lateral eyebrow high. When the eyebrow is raised, the upper eyelid skin is also stretched upward, resulting in less sagging or ptosis. Also, crows feet (wrinkles at the sides of the eyes) can improve when the lateral eyebrow is raised. This is all because the forehead, eyebrow and eyelid are connected.

It is true that nice results can be achieved with Botox injections into crows feet when they are mild wrinkles. But, Botox works by paralyzing the muscles at the sides of the eyes and it is temporary; it will not reverse or prevent the continued loss of collagen in that area.

Some women end up seeking blepharoplasty surgery when the sagging of the upper eyelids becomes excessive. But, this surgery doesn’t always help women who have a lower eyebrow because there is not much space. In these cases, a surgical brow lift is an option to lift the eyebrow, but the surgical knife may not appeal to everyone.

Ultherapy brow lift is a noninvasive way to lift the eyebrow. It is the only noninvasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift the skin. Ultherapy is a laser treatment that uses ultrasound to activate your own body to make new collagen, which tightens and lifts the skin. It works well if you have a lowered eyebrow or excess skin on the upper eyelids. The treatment is done in about 45 minutes and has no downtime. Typically, patients only need one treatment to see results, but it depends on the severity of the problem.

Ultherapy gives a subtle and natural uplift; It will not replace surgery for more severe conditions. it is as excellent preventative aging procedure for patients who want to preserve a more youthful eyebrow a little while longer.
