Fillers

Fillers are injections used to fill wrinkles and creases in the skin. These injections can be used to obtain a fuller lip, remove lines around the lips (smokers lines), give cheek bone definition, fill in the trough under the eye as well as soften marionette lines.  There are many different fillers and experience does matter. A board certified dermatologist is best trained to assess the overall health of your skin and determine the most effective filler to achieve your goals. The correct amount of filler placed in the correct location using the correct technique will enhance the facial features. Maintaining the natural shape of your facial bone structure and knowing where there is loss of fat with aging is essential. Often, patients tell us that they do not want their face to be puffy and distorted by too much filler.  We agree with them. The “overfilled syndrome” becomes a real

Kybella

The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, and reduces submental fat or the “double chin”. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile. Each Kybella treatment session is given one month apart. Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient , however 2-6 treatment is the usual. Dr. Woods will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals.

Superfine Ultherapy

If you are not ready for a deeper Ultherapy session and you just want to treat fine lines and the crepiness of your skin, then a special tranducer device can be used to achieve those goals. This device will also use ultrasound to heat the collagen on a more superficial level as compared to traditional Ultherapy. You can expect smoother skin in 3-4 months after a treatment. Multiple treatments can be done. This is a new way to get results for those patients who don’t want the downtime of a chemical peel.

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an extremely  effective treatment used to treat sun damaged skin in our patients. This treatment involves applying a photosensitizing medication to the skin and then using a light source to activate it.  We have perfected the procedure and prefer to perform it with a laser. Our protocol involves applying one of the FDA approved photosensitizers (Levulan or methyl aminolevulinate) to the to the entire face or affected areas for 1-3 hours. Then, the Candela laser beam is precisely pulsed onto on the areas where the medication was applied. The laser allows Dr. Woods to tailor the treatment more precisely. After the laser procedure, the medicine is washed off the face and patients may return home. It is important to avoid the sun for 48-72 hours after the procedure. Patients will experience redness for 1-3 days after the procedure and then the areas will peel for a

Candela V Beam

The Candela Vbeam® Laser is a pulsed dye laser, which delivers an intense burst of yellow light to the skin (wavelength 595 nm). This wavelength of light is absorbed by hemoglobin, which is in red blood cells. Because blood vessels are filled with red blood cells, laser light can be specifically absorbed in these areas, to diminish or fade the vessels, with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. The blood vessels are coagulated and reabsorbed by the body. The Vbeam® Laser has a unique cooling device, which sprays a cooling mist onto the skin with each laser pulse, protecting the epidermis (the top layer of the skin), and increasing comfort. In addition to hemoglobin, melanin, the pigment in the skin, absorbs the 595 nm wavelength of light. If lasering a pigmented brown spot on the skin is desired, a special hand piece is used. This hand piece compresses the blood away

SkinPen Microneedling

Probably our most exciting, new procedure in the office, microneedling is here! We use the Skin Pen by Bellus Medical because it is the only FDA cleared microneedling device. Microneedling is an innovative way to treat acne scars, fine lines, deep wrinkles, and photodamage to improve the overall appearance of the skin. We use the FDA approved Skin Pen to create thousands of precise microchannels in the skin. It also allows the penetration of products into the skin. We can even apply platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP directly to the skin post procedure to create a “Vampire Facelift.” Microneedling is perfect for someone who may not have a lot of downtime and is struggling with acne scars or just wants to improve

Botox

Botox is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic treatments. It has a very high satisfaction rating among patients for its ability to smooth fine lines, wrinkles and creases. Botox, Dysport and Xenomin are all neuromodulators that contain botulinum toxin type A, which is a purified neurotoxic protein taken from Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Botox relax wrinkles by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contraction. When the muscle contraction is reduced the facial movements responsible for unwanted lines is inhibited. Botox is used for facial rejuvenation by reducing wrinkles between the eyebrows, crows feet and forehead. While Botox is most known to its facial rejuvenation capabilities, it is used for medical purposes such as the treatment of migraines, strabismus, hyperhidrosis and muscle spasms. Although Botox is the most recognizable neuromodulator, Dysport and Xenomin are also effective and have distinct advantages. Healthy adults over the age of 18 are good candidates
